hello! just letting you lovelies know that i will be quiet for a little bit longer as i'm visiting my family for a few days. i'll leave you to drool over the beautiful dita, which if you're anything like me will keep you amused for quite some time! back soon! xox

edit: sorry, but i've had this image for so long i don't know where it came from. anyone know?

we went out last night to a South African dinner event which was amazing! and the food was delicious, but i ate way too much! anyway, this is what i wore. i'm not used to having someone else take photos of me (i feel a bit awkward and pose-y actually, which as my boy pointed out is ridiculous since i upload the photos for the world to see anyway...). my photographer was evidently feeling energetic last as he was participating in what I can only call photographic acrobatics which, as evidenced below, does not necessarily result in a good photo. hence the various body parts being disconnected and me having a mildly amused/goofy look on my face, hehe.

i actually quite love this outfit - the top/dress is my new favourite obsession!

blazer from salvos : dress from supre (please don't hurl me out into the street and lynch me! i haven't been to supre since i was 14, but i was walking past the other day and this beauty was just sitting in the window - how could i resist?!) : jeans from dotti : shoes by melissa

four posts in one day! this is a new record for me - do you know why? because i'm supposed to be writing a conceptual design report for uni and i really don't want to, hah, queen procrastination strikes again! anyway, onto today's outfit...

this is what i wore to bum around the house and study today, and i know you're all dying to know what awesome shoes i wore with this delightful ensemble! behold...

sexy pink cow print slippers - oh yes! :D

i really love this skirt, i think i will try to wear it more often. also, you really should have a look at the larger image of this and check out my sexy new nailpolish - i love it!

edited to add a detail shot of the tweed of the skirt - it's lovely!

skirt is vintage : singlet and cardigan from cotton on : slippers from.... no idea
by the way lovelies, all going well i should have something very exciting to show you tomorrow and it relates to this image. can you guess what it is? :)

ps, sorry about the photo edit, i'm not a fan of censorship but i thought i'd better not bombard you with boobies without warning!

image from heidi slimane's fashion diary, but can be found more easily here.

i apologise, but i feel the need to have a bit of a whinge at american apparel australia. i fell in love with this micro-mesh bodysuit when rumi wore it a little while ago, so of course i went to investigate. guess what i found?

american apparel (america):

american apparel (australia):click on the images to see a bigger version

yup, america: $26. a perfectly reasonable price.
australia: $42. quite a lot of money for a bit of stretchy mesh!

and it's not just that one piece, everything is so much more expensive on the australia version. now i know, american apparel is obviously american so i would expect it to be slightly more expensive in aus, but some of these seem to be almost twice as much, which makes me do things like pout and stamp my foot and yell 'it's not faaaaaiiiiirrr!'.

i think the first american apparel store just opened in sydney here, but that's 12 hours drive away - that's a long way to go for a body suit, i'm not sure if prices are any better in store - has anyone been to it yet?

that's all. my first rant - are you proud lady smaggle? :)

mmm... shoes...

whowhatwear this morning sent me searching in the direction of shopbop for a closer look at these shoes. i don't normally pay much attention to sites like shopbop, even though they do shop internationally i feel like there's too much of a risk of them not fitting or being made out of the cheapest possible materials therefore rendering them unwearable. i suppose it's more difficult if i've never heard of the brand as well - it's easier if you know the quality to expect. anyway, the point of this story is that i stumbled across the most amazing set of shoes under the brand name, 'davis by ruthie davis'. there's only 6 styles in the set, but i would happily pay money for 5 of the 6 (and would probably be delighted if someone gave me the 6th pair!), which for someone as fussy about shoes as me, is quite a feat. unfortunately, i've never heard of the brand before (perhaps someone out there can enlighten me?) so i'm unlikely to fork out money for these beauties (especially since they're $550+), so for now i will have to be content with gazing at them in wonder.

all 6 styles in order of preference :)

not a colour i would normally go for, but i love it's simplicity and mega chunkyness

i love that these are so bright that it makes such a defined reflection! the little detail under the heel really makes these i think

again, i love the detail under the heel, but also, i'm really loving any shoes with the super thick ankle strap at the moment

these are a beautiful classic pump, with just that little bit of edge in terms of it's shape and the studs at the back that make them stand out and makes me love them

what can i say? they're studded, they're strappy, they've got that great heel detail and they're metallic!

there's just something a bit too 'hiking boot' about these for me to spend money on them (not to mention i'm just not a big fan of ankle boots), but i'm sure i could make them work if they were in my shoe collection!

the delightful and very lovely lady smaggle has tagged me! i'm probably far more excited than i should be by what is, lets face it, one of those annoying email surveys, but eeeeee* lady smaggle tagged me! so here goes...

* each blogger starts with ten random facts/habits about themselves.
* bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their ten things and post these rules.
* at the end of your blog, you need to choose ten people to get tagged and list their names.

+ i like to eat frozen peas
+ i'm terrified of getting wrinkles, but i hardly ever wear sunscreen (bad jo!)
+ i used to be a rockstar! ... well... i was in a band and we toured around the eastern states of australia - it was the best year of my life.
+ i only write in lower case on my blog, i'm not sure why... i'm a bit anal like that
+ when i was younger, everytime i got out of the shower/bath i used to see how many different outfits i could make with my towel
+ when i take eggs/ice cubes out of their tray the remaining eggs/ice cubes have to be symmetrical (this has led to using four eggs, when really i only needed 3)
+ my favourite tv show is the 'antiques roadshow'
+ i'm too shy to tell most of my family/friends about this blog!
+ i never ate dog food when i was a baby, but i did eat stock cubes
+ i honest to god cannot think of a tenth thing to write

now i'm going to tag these delightful creatures:

hand it over

wendy b

lilac stevens

ballad of john

the clothes horse

lady melbourne

karla's closet

now i'm going to take a cue from lady smaggle and ask - please do comment and let me know a little about yourself, especially if you've never commented before. i want to know all about you lovely lovely people xox

*for those not in the know 'eeeeee' represents a high-pitched excited girl squeal

edit: not quite ten tags i know - but i have to go to work!

in josephine's dreams, the angels wear rodarte

if you have not yet seen this video i highly recommend you put aside ten minutes to watch it. i'm in a euphoric state just thinking about it - it is absolute perfection. i want it all - the shoes (oh god! the shoes! nicholas kirkwood is an effing genius) the deconstructed elegance, the tonal transitions from nude to black (delicious!), the volumes, the fabric, yup, i want. all of it.

this is just a little teaser, and my favourite part of the collection - when i saw this i gasped a little too excitedly and i nearly choked to death. well... not quite, but you get the idea.

yum!

like many fashion bloggers, i love a good fashion editorial, especially if it's slightly on the dark side. which is why i nearly wet myself when i discovered this site - i've spent the last half hour delving through the deliciousness that is sybaritism. it's like a normal fashion editorial except it's created with sybarites (which i had not heard of until tonight). anyway, that's all i have to say, the pictures speak for themselves! *drool*

ps, i think the artist is Michelle Blankenship, but i'm not 100% sure

pose-alicious metal

we went to a metal gig last night (opeth, woo!) and that always seems to put me in a darker state of mind, fashion-wise. i think that's why i opted to pile on all my black and gold necklaces this morning with this awesome maxi skirt (and hence the mean face, hehe). i cannot for the life of me bring myself to wear all black with this skirt though - i just feel too try-hardish! so i have no idea if i looked as hardcore as i felt today, but all that hardware made me feel pretty great (at least until i tripped at the train station and ripped up half my big toenail - ow!).

ps, one of these days i will get around to figuring out why my camera takes such grainy photos...one day.

god i love this city. it's only been a little over two weeks since this whinge-y post but today it was warm enough for and skirt. and a tee. and no tights! hoorah! the moment that the calendar clicked over to spring 3 days ago my lovely city waves goodbye to winter

so i know this has been outfit post, after outfit post, after outfit post but - outfit posts are quick, uni is keeping me too busy, and i want to give you something! i will try to be a better blogger soon - promise!

tee by cotton on : i've had the skirt for so long i don't remember where it came from : leather belt as a necklace : shoes from ebay
