i blame mary-kate

so it appears that i, along with the rest of the world, have decided that i must have these sam edelman shoes. unfortunately they've become a bit of a lucrative ebay seller. i found a pair today going for over $600 (au). that's just crazy talk. they're not even the real thing!
nevertheless, i will keep looking!
hello! i am back in the land of the living after spending a luxurious few days switching between sitting in our 22nd-floor-ocean-view hotel room, to the beach, to sipping cosmopolitans in the spa (not quite a french martini, yours truly's drink of choice, but definately acceptable), to leisurely strolling around surfers paradise with my love, to the pool, to more cosmopolitans in the spa, to a lovely dinner with mr and mrs fascination, to watching the tennis (whose excited about the federer v nadal game? i am!) etc, etc, ad nauseam, you get the picture.

it was lovely.

i have pictures to show you, but i'm too lazy to get up and get my memory stick right now, so i will update later with those. posting will resume as sporadically as per usual. here's to being back in the real world!

sigh.

happy australia day!

it is the day of bbq's, tacky hats and the tennis - hooray for being aussie!

as of tomorrow i will be somewhere in the middle of this picture with my love. see you in a few days!

even glamour queens need to do the washing

how delightful is this washing machine? chantal thomass' site is a visual feast, both graphically and for her beautiful lingerie. well worth a look.

just wow.

if you follow style sightings you will have already seen this, but how amazing is this guy. i am in awe.

fascination with inspiration

a dear friend of mine has just started her very own blog called fascination with inspiration, filled with some of the most beautiful, inspiring images on the internet. she's a very talented, creative lady, so when you get the chance go and say hi and show her some love!

r.i.p.

devastatingly, i had to take the shoes back today. i bought them exactly two weeks ago yesterday (monday), the ankle strap broke on friday so i took them back and got an exchange for a new pair. the ankle strap broke again on yesterday - clearly i am unlucky. i suppose i could have tried for a third pair, but if they broke too i truly would have been depressed! as it is i am quite upset because they were the perfect black wedges.

however, the lovely lady told me today that wittner's next line is themed 'rock', here's hoping that means much more patent black leather, straps and studs!

new things!

this amazing dress arrived in the mail today. i have been watching it on ebay since about the beginning of december but because of the pound-aussie dollar conversion it was way out of my budget, especially leading up to christmas, so in spite of the fact that i loved it so much i probably would have cut off my left arm to have it, i waited until after christmas. how or why noone snapped it up before me, i've no idea, but after christmas it went on sale! and now it is mine. it is unbelievably heavy but so delightful to the touch. it feels like one of those masseur toys with all the textured bits, and of course, it's a copy of this dress.

it came from this store, who were lovely to me, and have quite a few lovelycool things - it's worth a look.

i also bought these shoes which are delightfully comfortable! these are the black wedges i needed for new years, but couldn't find because i'm so fussy! my problem is that i am of the opinion that if you're going to wear heels you should wear heels and i just don't find small heels aesthetically pleasing. then of course it's difficult to find heels that are comfortable enough to walk out of the house in. these are my second pair of almost 5-inch wedges from wittner (yes, another pair from wittner!) that are so comfortable i almost feel like i'm wearing flat shoes. i have a feeling that the inside of these (as with my other pair) are cork, and being my third pair of cork wedges (the first pair were from scooter and also amazingly comfortable, though now deceased) i don't think i want to buy wedges made of anything else anymore!

anyway, that's my epiphany of the week
. anyone else have one of those? :)

the art of the teese

the last few days i have been reading (or perhaps devouring) this book:

and today i dressed like this:

inspiration much? and while i'm sure the lovely dita would never wear a wife beater, i wanted to make it a little bit more casual for bumming around the house all day :)

ps, i wish to make sweet sweet love to dita - is that wrong?

pps, if you are considering buying this book, do! it is amazing.

louis vuitton stephen sprouse tribute collection

i have always loved the louis vuitton luggage collections. to me they are the epitome of refinery and elegance and with marc jacobs at the helm that refined elegance gets a delightful youthful edge. you may remember the graffiti bags of 2001, which were quite a risk for the brand, but what you might not remember is that they were in fact a collaboration between marc jacobs and 1980's fashion designer stephen sprouse.

sprouse died in 2004 and in tribute him, marc jacobs (for louis vuitton of course) has released a tribute collection using some of sprouse's most iconic imagery along with images that they created together. the result is beautiful.

view more of the collection here

an aside for architecture/design geeks:

i shouldn't have to tell you what this is, but it seems that sprouse also did a quasi-collaboration with the mies van der rohe (or defacement, depending on how much of a purist you are, heh). i personally prefer the original but i never mind an artistic collaboration. it is truly amazing how timeless these pieces are.

as another aside, i had to write a 3000 word assignment on the barcelona chair in my first year of uni... it's a beautiful design and all, but there are only so many things you can say about a chair! ha!

ps, if you don't know who ludwig mies van der rohe is, i highly recommend you look him up. he has done some incredible work, many of which you may recognise!

happy tuesday! x

an outfit and a cow

just a quick outfit post. here i am, totally digging our new cow (don't worry, it's fake-cow), which the boy hates, but i love. and since i'm the designer, i win. yes!

ya'll ready for this?

my hair has been depressing me for so long, this is pretty much how i felt yesterday

(also a shameless attempt to try and make the corniest blog title ever slightly relevant, ha!)

not so mellow yellow

fact about josephine for the day: i love nailpolish. if i wore a different colour everyday i think i'd have enough to last me almost 2 months. i haven't counted though... perhaps i should. anyway, i bought a new one because clearly i needed it! but it's sexy and it's courtesy of rimmel.

ps, i'm getting a long overdue haircut today, i'm so excited! results posted later x

shoe lust

for all of you who love these shoes but are having a little difficulty getting your hands on some (lets face it... that's all of us!).....

...look what my favourite store, wittner have produced for a fraction of the price at $179.95. they are missing those scary spikes on the toe, but i'm sure you could do a bit of a diy job and add them yourself.

i took one for the team and personally went to try these on last week and let me tell you they are fierce! and quite comfortable for their height - which i have come to expect from wittner. and don't despair international girls - wittner do ship internationally. their shipping policy can be found here. don't say i never do anything for you! :p

ps - i know i bang on about wittner a lot, no, they don't pay me, but maybe they should - i'll take shoes as payment, ha!

no title today

a couple of weeks ago i decided i needed new togs (swimmers/bathers whatever you want to call them) so i went shopping. oh my, how depressing. i have put on a few kilos since last summer and i feel disgusting! makes me want to dig myself a bit hole and crawl in it until winter. however, i had a bit of a dig through norma kamali's collection after susie bubble featured her a little while ago and she has some pieces that i would definately show some jiggly bits for if i owned them :)

honourable mentions:

this is just beautiful

and this i love (for the walmart collab), and is probably the only thing i can actually afford at the moment - but it appears to not have an "add to cart" function on it? anyone wanna send me one? ;)

ps - all images from the norma kamali site, obviously

lof der zotheid

apologies for the image heavy post, these images by erwin olaf were too beautiful not to post.

for elle:
the makeup in these is stunning - if only you could get away with it on a day to day basis

for city magazine with the beautiful leigh lezark and those shoes:

four eyes

so you probably don't know, but i have astigmatism which means that i have to wear glasses pretty much all the time... which i hate. as i mentioned in the last post i love eye makeup and i hate having to hide it behind glasses, i feel so unglamorous! often if i'm going out i'll just not wear them but i end up with a bitch of a headache. so imagine my delight this evening to see these photos of magda mole (who is apparently a polish television presenter) totally rocking out the glamorous in glasses. yay! hot girl with specs!

well, it's over, i'm still alive and now it's 2009! this is what i ended up wearing. i didn't end up finding any suitable wedges (boo) so i just ended up wearing my favourite wittner's for the first part of the night and then switched into some trusty gladiators later on. we actually didn't end up going into the city - about 10pm i found out that a really close friend of mine was at another house party less than 5 minutes walk from where we were and they had a view to see the fireworks from there. so we plodded over at about 11.30 to bring in the new year from a set of very narrow, very rickety stairs overlooking the city with about 20 other people we didn't know. they were all lovely though! we only made it to 2am this year, not 5am, but for me if i make it past midnight i'd call that a good evening!

one last picture to show you my makeup for the evening. i really love doing my eye makeup, unfortunately it's very difficult to photograph, but this gives you a general idea.

hope you all had (or have... depending on where in the world you are) a fun filled new years eve!
