happy 100 post birthday to me!

this is my 100th post! how exciting! i'm singing myself a little celebration song in my head. on to the important things - the first dark haired outfit post. i promise my new hair is not this black in real life, it's a rich dark brown with a kind of reddish/purple shine to it

does anyone acutally care where my clothes come from? i never do it anymore, but most people seem to. thoughts? just for something different, i'll do it today:

- metallic tee from sweet poison (bought from a boutique on hastings st that i can't remember the name of)
- lame dress from supre (don't judge me)
- alba fan club jeans
- melissa wedges

- necklaces mostly from diva

how to drastically change your haircolour in an afternoon

so on a whim (which is how these things often happen for me) i decided it was time to go back to being a brunette. i have been contemplating this for a while and just haven't been able to decide - i love being a blonde and a brunette (i wish i could pick and choose every morning). the boy doesn't care (no help at all!) so i finally asked a good girlfriend of mine and she said "go for it! go brown!" so i did. a big deciding factor was that when i'm brunette i can maintain it myself fairly easily (read: cheaply!) but when blonde it's a little trickier. having said that, i've never actually paid anyone to dye my hair, but i was seriously considering doing it (i didn't do such a smooth job with the blonde last time) which would have set me back $200 because i refuse to let anyone except toni & guy near my hair. so, brunette it is!

i'm not sure how many of you are aware of this, but when you are going from blonde to the darker shades of brown you have to have a red 'filler' in the middle. it's because blonde hair has very few colour pigments, so you have to replace the red pigments before applying the brown or your hair will end up with a greenish tinge. not sexy. i just use a cheap temporary hair colour, in this case 'live colour' in mahogany. i haven't had proper red hair in a long time, but i do love it!

i've managed to pick up quite a bit of information on home hair dying over the years, so feel free to ask any questions if you have them. in the mean time - what do you think of my new brown hair? :)

leviticus

well, my first week back at uni has been... terrifying. i suppose i shouldn't expect them to go easy on us in our final year. so, posts will probably be a bit sparse for a little while, but i will do my best! to that end, i thought i'd post these magnificent jewellery pieces from leviticus jewelry.

apologies for doing a repost of the lovely kos girls, but they are too beautiful (not to mention so crazily inexpensive!) if anyone wants to buy me one/some for my birthday i would love them forever *hint hint*

this one is my favourite (closely followed by number 3 above, but i just can't go past crowns!) - no one buy it :P

new levi's and neglected shoes

today was neglected shoes day - i have quite a lot of pairs that i don't wear very often because they're a little more difficult to style but i decided my new pair of levi's was a great chance to drag a pair out.

today i went over to dfo on the hunt for a new black bag before i go back to uni (i go back on monday - eep!) thinking i would definately find one at witchery... which i did... for $300!!! i didn't realise they were that expensive. needless to say, i am still bagless.
of course, while there i also found my next pair of wittners - i will have to save a bit for these ones though, but i've already been constructing outfits which will just not be the same without them. they will be mine!

marc jacobs fall 2009

i wasn't particularly floored with any particular item from the marc jacobs collection, but there were lots of elements that i quite admired.

i love this look of old-school glamour mixed with a rock-chick edge, which was evident in a few of the looks, but this is my favourite - divine!

these two have a similar feel to them, but the element i love is the cut-out to put the tails of the scarf into. this would be so easy to diy and adds such an awesome, quirky detail to an otherwise simple sweater.

and of course, if you've looked at the collection yet you'll know he just cannot be faulted on the colours! they are exquisite!

this last one deserves special mention, i love love love the bags in the whole collection (this one in particular) and i am rather partial to the silk slouchy top - it's quite lovely

so, i'm not going to bombard you with fashion week posts - there are plenty of other blogs for that. just the few that deserve a special mention :)

oh, and i'm sure you are aware, but all images came from style.com

wardrobe clearout via ebay

hi kids! this is a community service announcement to tell you all that for the first time ever i have put some clothes up for sale on ebay. some are wardrobe rejects, some are op-shop finds, but all start at $2.99 - score! i have only put up half of what i intend to sell this time around just to test the waters, so keep checking back - there's more to come!

ps - i had no idea ebay charged sellers such ridiculous fees! i suppose they have to make their money somehow, but seriously all those times i bought something for $0.99 the seller must have been losing money - oops!

if you want my clothes get them here!

shoe lust

after posting these shoes yesterday, i have fallen head over heels (no pun intended i swear) in love with them. unfortunately for me, they don't have my size (9) left, and in fact they run a size small so i can't even order an 8.5 and hope for the best. anyway, i was reading go fug yourself this morning and stumbled across this picture:

bitch has my shoes.

i love love!

it's valentines day on saturday! valentines day often gets a bad rap, but i can unashamedly confess, i effing love it. i love all the romance, the candle lit dinners, and all the cheesy pink and red cards and decorations that come out at so many places of business. i love to spoil and to be spoilt. i love that it's a holiday for love - i have a lotta love to give (aww). and i don't want to hear any whinging about being single on valentines day, and "it's-so-depressing-cause-i-don't-have-anyone-to-share-it-with". there is always someone to love, whether it be your family, your friends, your neighbours, even your housemates. i used to live in a house with 3 other girls and every valentines day we would leave each other sweet notes and chocolate and decorate the house with paper hearts, it was wonderful. i think valentines day should be a day to share positivity and love with those around you and of course, dress up and look glamorous!

to that end i decided to put together a few outfits to give you some inspiration for whichever situation you find yourself in this valentines day (click on the title for specific outfit information).

out dancing with the girls this one of course requires a pretty dress to sashay around in and some hot heels. michael kors island is one of my absolute favourite perfumes. i actually haven't smelt island hawaii, but i'm imagining it to be firy and sexy.

first date/new relationship (girly version) this occasion calls for a sexy but sophisticated outfit in beautiful feminine colours. why not throw in some heart shaped accessories to really set the mood! ysl elle is a fun, flirty and feminine perfume - i got this for christmas and i love it.

first date/new relationship (alternative version) so, you've got a date but you're more of a jeans and tee kinda gal? why not dress is up with a fancy corset and matching accessories?

a date with your man i confess, i love to dress up so i feel like the sexiest, most glamorous girl in the room. and lets admit, who doesn't love to know that they're man thinks so too? i actually don't have this perfume, but i desperately want it!

spending the night at home whether you're at home on your own, or with a love (you saucy minx!) there's no reason why you can't dress up and feel at your glamorous best. put on your best lingerie and drape yourself over a pretty chair (if you're feeling really adventurous - take pictures!). i also can't recommend versace crystal noir highly enough. it is my absolute favourite perfume, the scent reminds me of the beach at nighttime but in a very refined, classic kind of way.

well, there you have it. whatever you do, enjoy it! sending you all lots of love x

a special message for the aussies

sorry to diverge from the usual fashion related news, but i think this is too important to ignore.

like many of you today i'm sure, i have been watching the news in absolute horror. i just cannot believe the devastation that the victorian fires have left in their wake; 66 (now 173) people confirmed dead 640 (now 700) homes destroyed, a whole town burned to the ground and 26 fires still raging. it's beyond comprehension.

i'm posting this for two reasons, firstly to say if you can spare a few dollars (or more than a few!) please donate to the salvation army's bushfire appeal. you can donate online here or call 1800 811 700. if you are an overseas resident but would still like to make a donation, you can do that here. more information on current fire situations can be found here.

secondly, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this tragedy. lets hope it doesn't get any worse.

also, i hope the bastards that started these fires burn in hell. it had to be said.

update: trish hunter has shared a very touching and very personal story of the fires. there have been so many stories like this coming out - it's heartbreaking.

birds of a feather

just a quick outfit post. this is what i wore to do a spot of shopping at hastings st in noosa today. we're here for a couple of days visiting the father in law. he has an actual garden so it's an outside shot for once :)

edit: as an aside, i bought this top at the gold coast last week along with a very pretty sequinned mini dress. i pulled the dress out after i got home and realised that they had left the security tag on! i'm so annoyed because the girl/s serving me were paying absolutely no attention and it's over an hours drive for me to get back to the gold coast. of course i have no idea what the place was called so i can't even call them! all i know is that it was opposite a pub called 'avenue'. i don't suppose anyone lives near surfers paradise? i'm not sure what i'm going to do about it yet! grr!
one of my favourite blogs for fashion week photos is sonny photos. the photos are always a lot of fun and he features a lot of designers that i otherwise wouldn't have heard of or sought out. i've already mentioned christina berger. here are a couple of my other recent favourites:

Scherer Gonzales - the obvious highlight of this collection are the headpieces. oh my, the headpieces! what i love though is that they don't overpower the clothes, as extravagant as the pieces are, the two work in harmony with each other creating a beautifully unique collection

felder felder - this is the kind of collection that i can only describe as orgasmic. lots of black, organza, leather, studs and plenty of 'tude. yes please!

kilian kerner - this collection is pretty. it's young, sophisticated and just plain pretty. i love it.

i bought a leggings pattern from ebay a while ago which i haven't used yet, but i think it might be time to pull it out - those fuschia leggings are to die for!

you f#!@in' piece of knit

after seeing her work on sonny's website this morning, christina berger is a new favourite. i thought i would share a few of my favourites with you

catch up

outfit from 05.01. it was actually far too hot for the lace bit but the outfit looked a bit too slutty-bogan without it for my liking.

liquid gold taggage

i'm doing this for little simi 'cause she's cute and i think this is a fun idea! the fourth image from my fourth pictures folder is (*insert drumroll here*)....

penelope cruz! i love the luxuriousness of this image, she appears to be lounging around the house but is wearing a gown most divine!

edit: so, i'm not going to tag anyone but feel free to partake if you would like. and leave me a link if you do!
